Coming from a combination of the Greek words “chrysos” and “kolla” – “gold” and “glue,” it was first used by Theophrastus, the successor to Aristotle and the “father of botany,” in 315 BC to solder Gold. Chrysocolla is a specific blue, green colour referred to as Cyan and has been used for decorative carvings and jewellery since antiquity.
