The earth is waking. So are you.
OSTARA: THE SPRING EQUINOX
March 20 arrives at the exact moment light overtakes dark. The scales tip. The earth exhales. Everything that has been gathering force underground begins to break surface.
This is Ostara. This is the spring equinox. This is when the world remembers it was never meant to stay still.

THE HINGE
March sits at the balance point. Day equals night. Light equals dark. One breath between what was and what will be. The earth does not ease into spring. It cracks open.
And so do we.

OSTARA’S MEDICINE
Ostara brings momentum. The force that pushes seed through soil. The force that breaks bud from branch. This is activation energy. The point where potential becomes visible.
Ostara asks this from you:
Release what you carried through winter that no longer serves. Plant what you want to see grow by summer. Do not wait for perfect conditions. Begin now.

THE SYMBOLS OF SPRING
The sacred objects that teach.
THE EGG
Potential in perfect form. Everything you need already lives inside.
THE SEED
Small acts with long consequences. What you plant now feeds you in six months.
THE HARE
Speed. Instinct. Fertility. The ability to move when the moment calls.
THE CROCUS
Courage before conditions are ideal. Bloom because it is time, not because it is easy.
ENCHANTING BOTANICALS FOR SPRING
Nettle
Vital force. Blood builder. Spring tonic. Nettle wakes the body after winter sleep.
Dandelion
Resilience. Detoxification. Wishes with roots. What others call weed, the witch calls medicine.
Violet
Gentle power. Heart opener. Peace that does not compromise boundaries.
Lemon balm
Clarity. Joy. Nervous system reset. Solar energy in leaf form.
TOOLS I REACH FOR AT OSTARA
These are the things I keep close during threshold season. What I use when I need to clear old energy and make space for what wants to grow.
White Sage | Bye Felicia
I burn this when I need to clear a space before planting new intentions. White sage strips away what no longer serves and resets the energy to neutral.
Cedar Wood | The Steady Healer
For grounding after big shifts. Cedar brings you back to your body and reminds you that growth does not mean losing your center.
Mugwort | Walk Between Worlds
I burn this during ritual when I need to access deeper intuition. Mugwort opens vision and helps you see what wants to emerge this season.
Clear Quartz
I hold one while I write my intentions for the season. It amplifies what you speak and keeps the signal clean. Place it on your altar or carry it during the equinox week.
Green Aventurine
The stone of growth and opportunity. I keep one in my pocket during Ostara when I am planting seeds or starting projects. It reminds me that momentum is already moving in my favor.
A Journal
Ostara asks you to write down what you are calling in. Not as wishes. As commitments. I use mine to track what I plant, what I tend, and what begins to shift as the season unfolds.
Spring Altar Candles
Green for growth. White for clarity. I light one each morning for the nine days following the equinox and speak one intention aloud while it burns.
CULINARY CONJURINGS: THE SPRING TABLE
Ostara is the month to eat green. Fresh herbs. Young greens. Foods that carry momentum.
Try this spring blessing:
Make a salad of wild greens, fresh herbs, and edible flowers if you can find them.
Dress it with olive oil for prosperity.
Add lemon for clarity and cleansing.
Sprinkle seeds or nuts for grounding what you are calling in.
Before you eat, hold the bowl and say:
“I receive what spring offers. I grow what I plant. I become what I practice.”
Then eat like you are feeding the version of yourself you are becoming. Because you are.

This is a 20-minute ritual you can do on March 20 or within three days after. You will need a few simple tools, a candle, seeds, and the willingness to let something shift.
THE SPRING SEED RITUAL
If you want to practice with me now, here is a shortened version you can begin today.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Seeds of your choice (herbs, flowers, anything that grows)
- A pot with soil, or access to earth outside
- A white or green candle
- A small piece of paper and pen
- A bowl of water
- White Sage, Cedar, or Mugwort to cleanse the space
- A meditation stone to hold while you set your intentions (Clear Quartz or Green Aventurine work well)
THE RITUAL:
- Light your candle. Burn White Sage, Cedar, or Mugwort to clear the space before you begin.
- Sit with your meditation stone. Hold it in both hands. Let yourself feel what wants to grow this season.
- Write three intentions in your journal or on a piece of paper. Keep them specific. Say “practice morning ritual four days a week” or “launch the thing I have been planning since January.”
- Read them aloud. Speak them like promises, not wishes.
- Fold the paper and place it beneath the pot or in the soil beside where you will plant.
- Hold the seeds in your hands. Speak once: “As these seeds root and rise, so do my intentions. What I plant, I tend. What I tend, I become.”
- Plant the seeds according to their needs. Water them from your bowl.
- Place the pot where you will see it daily. Set your meditation stone beside it as a reminder. Your practice is to water the seeds and remember what they represent.
TENDING YOUR SEEDS:
Every time you water them, speak one intention aloud. This keeps the link between your inner work and the outer symbol active. When they sprout, acknowledge it. Growth happens when you do not abandon what you started.
THE ALTAR OF AWAKENING
Ostara wants an altar that reflects motion, not stillness.
A simple Ostara altar:
- Clear your altar completely. Start fresh. Burn White Sage or Cedar to reset the energy.
- Place a green or white candle in the center.
- Add fresh flowers or budding branches. Alive, not dried.
- Set a bowl of water on one side. A dish of soil or seeds on the other.
- Place a meditation stone that represents what you are calling in this season. Clear Quartz for clarity and amplification. Green Aventurine for growth and opportunity. Citrine for momentum and confidence.
- Add your journal nearby if you are tracking intentions through the season.
If you want to go deeper, add these:
- An egg (raw or decorative) to symbolize potential
- A feather for air and new perspective
- Your planted seeds from the ritual above
- A mirror to reflect light and remind you that you are the source
Light the candle each morning for nine days starting on the equinox. Hold your meditation stone and speak one intention aloud. Let the flame hold it.
OSTARA CHRONICLE
This season asks you to begin anyway. To trust that momentum builds as you move. Spring does not wait for you to feel prepared. It begins because it is time. Ostara is the season of decisive action. The power lives in the first step.
