TURQUOISE
Turquoise has been known by many names; Callais by the Ancient Greeks, Chalchihuitl by the Aztecs but it wasn’t until the stone was brought by trade routes to Europe via Turkey that it was known as Turquoise, after “turquois,” the French for “Turkish.” It was used by the first cultures in antiquity to adorn jewellery and decorate sacred objects, and so prized was it that the ancient Egyptians imitated it with coloured glass – which is believed to be the first time a gemstone was imitated. The two primary sources of this stunning blue-green gem are the United States and Iran with other small deposits found around the world.
Often associated with the Egyptian goddess Hathor, Turquoise represents powerful femininity. It is believed that turquoise is a stone of transition, helping you find joy and energy where you once felt depleted. Hathor’s energy helps you cross between realms, connecting to your ancestors and feel at peace with nature’s cycle of life and death. Turquoise works to bring you back to your core, the truth of who you are, and what your potential is. A very calming stone, it relieves stress, helps you release regrets, and speak your truth.
